Welcome to your stay

This two floored houseboat is located in the lovely village of Nederhorst Den Berg, 25 min. from Amsterdam. A floating home offering everything you might expect from a high-end villa, but then with the benefits of staying on the water. Watch the swans, ducks and geese swim by while you enjoy an unforgettable time with your beloved ones, very close to the cities of Amsterdam and Utrecht.

Explore your stay

A huge and very well equipped modern kitchen is the heart of the houseboat, the perfect place to start another great day. It has a wood stove for chilly or colder periods. The living room has a comfortable couch and a fire place that ensures a great atmosphere - even during the coldest winter nights. And even without lighting the fire place the boat is comfortably warm all year round thanks to floor heating.

The boat offers 160 square meters, over two floors. The large windows create a very light and bright experience. On one side you will enjoy a wonderful view on the river and beautiful sunsets. On the other side there is a 900 sqm garden with several terraces, fruit trees, including a wonderful veranda with another wood stove and electric heaters. Besides the veranda, we also have a fully equipped tiny house, for one or two persons to sleep.

The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, with a bath, a rain shower, a double sink and a separate toilet.

There are two more bedrooms and a separate bathroom with a rain shower, sink and toilet.  A third toilet is found at the entrance.

In the extra room on the top floor, the white couch can be adjusted to a sleeping couch.
For the two sleeping couches we have just bought two great top matrasses.

In the village of Nederhorst den Berg you will find a super market, a bakery, butcher and flower shop. And two restaurants. Places nearby to do more extensive shopping are Weesp and Bussum. Amsterdam and Utrecht are only 20 - 25 minutes by car.

Staying in our house boat becomes more convenient having a car at your disposal. We do offer you several bikes. The nearest train station is found in Weesp, appr. 12 minutes by car. Included are several bikes. If you like and if you have experience to handle a long boat, it is possible to rent this boat and to enjoy the most beautiful river of the Netherlands.

The area is known for its beautiful nature, lots of water and little beaches, old mansions and woods to wander.

We hope to have given you the best possible impression of our houseboat, but don't hesitate to contact us when you have any questions. We look forward to welcome you aboard!

Note: we welcome families with children, but their safety is always your responsibility. Staying on a houseboat simply means that there is always water nearby and we can not take any responsibility for the safety of your kids. So please be aware of this.

Location

About the area

Waterside Heritage in Nederhorst den Berg

Nederhorst den Berg, a small village in the province of North Holland, is steeped in rural Dutch history shaped by water and peat landscapes. The historic centerpiece is Castle Nederhorst, a 17th century manor surrounded by a moat and manicured grounds that reflect the region’s long tradition of land reclamation and noble estates. The village church, Wilhelminakerk, adds to the quiet charm of the old center, where narrow roads, traditional farmhouses, and canals paint a picture of classic Holland beyond the bustle of Amsterdam.

Indoor Discoveries in North Holland

On cooler or rainy days, the wider region of North Holland offers a rich choice of indoor experiences. Nearby towns such as Weesp and Hilversum feature small museums dedicated to Dutch broadcasting history, local art, and regional heritage. Cozy cafés line the canals, inviting visitors to sample apple pie and strong Dutch coffee. For a broader cultural outing, Amsterdam is within easy reach, offering world class museums such as the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank House.

Outdoor Life Among Lakes and Polders

Nederhorst den Berg lies close to the Loosdrechtse Plassen, a renowned network of lakes that draws sailors, kayakers, and paddleboarders throughout the warmer months. Cycling and walking routes wind through green polders, across dikes, and along quiet waterways, offering expansive views of flat meadows and big Dutch skies. In spring and summer, the surrounding countryside bursts into color, and boat rentals provide an easy way to explore the interconnected lakes at a leisurely pace.

Wetland Wildlife and Birdwatching Havens

The watery landscapes around Nederhorst den Berg create an ideal habitat for birdlife and small mammals. Reed beds and marshy shores host herons, grebes, and cormorants, while migratory birds pass through during seasonal changes. The nearby nature reserves around the Vecht and the Loosdrecht lakes are popular with birdwatchers who come to observe rare species in tranquil surroundings. The combination of open water, peat bogs, and grassy meadows supports a diverse ecosystem that reflects the natural richness of North Holland.

    Superb floating home near Amsterdam

This is the third time we visited Amsterdam, but this time we did not want to be in the city centre since it has become increasingly busy over the last few years. Yet we wanted to visit the renovated Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum - a must do when in The Netherlands. Therefore we chose to stay on a location near Amsterdam, but with a more green touch to it. When we saw this super large houseboat we were mesmerized right away. And after arriving there, this feeling only got stronger. How much love was put into the interior, how amazing is the garden and how great the views over the water. I can imagine living here must feel like floating around in heaven - literally. Take your chance when you're able to stay on this houseboat. You won't regret it if you appreciate beauty and tranquillity.
