The Amazing Watervilla

We had a fantastic holiday in The Amazing Watervilla! Erwin and Eleanore were brilliant and very attentive hosts. The houseboat itself was absolutely stunning with lots of quirky decorations and many lovely personal touches that were very homely.  The Watervilla had everything we needed for our stay and was incredibly comfortable with plenty of room and different spaces for everyone to enjoy.  We loved wild swimming in the river from the boat! The location itself was idyllic; surrounded by beautiful countryside with lots of wildlife, it was very tranquil and the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 

The nearest larger town of Wormerveer was very easy to access (about a 15 minute drive) and had all the shops we needed.  The self-drive boat hire from the local marina was a fantastic way to explore the local area, including the super windmills at Zaandam.  Within 30 minutes we were also able to explore Edam and Amsterdam and a little further afield the incredible models at Madurodam and the traditional town of Delft.

Our group of six spent a whole weekend visiting this beautiful waterfront villa. The rooms are very modern and comfortably furnished, making it easy to feel at home. Perfect for relaxing, but also for visiting Amsterdam. Communication with Erwin was excellent. We would definitely come back!

While looking for a holiday home by the water in Holland, we stumbled upon the houseboat "Amazing Watervilla" and immediately fell in love with this lovingly and comfortably furnished holiday home.

Our research results regarding the location and the surrounding area removed any last doubts. After a very nice contact with the "owner", our booking for 2 weeks was confirmed quickly and smoothly.

On Friday, July 29th, we arrived in Oostknollendam at the berth of "The Amazing Watervilla". Even the passage through the quaint, beautiful little town far away from tourism made our hearts beat faster...

The houseboat itself, which is located directly at the end of the village, met all of our expectations that the photos and the description of the property had already aroused us.

The entire houseboat has been lovingly and properly renovated and furnished with an absolutely unmistakable style and attention to detail.

The living room with its wonderful views including a terrace forms the centerpiece, connected is an enormously large, modern kitchen, which leaves nothing to be desired. In the "lower deck" are the two spacious bedrooms in which the idiosyncratic but very appealing style is continued. Also in the basement is the small but modern bathroom, in which the mini sink is a task that we are happy to face on a houseboat.

Overall, the houseboat makes a very neat and clean impression and you don't have to do without anything. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired:

TV including game console (actually superfluous with the views), kettle grill, fishing equipment and two beautiful bicycles in a retro look to name a few things.

Bicycles are indispensable in this environment anyway! Firstly, because of the large number of waterways, driving a car with under is a bit difficult and secondly, because there is a very well-marked network of trails, with the help of which you can reach all the surrounding destinations relatively quickly. Mention should be made here: Purmerend, De Rijp, Alkmaar and Horn.

If you want to make a day trip to Amsterdam, you can comfortably take the train directly to the city in about 15 minutes.

However, those who love peace and quiet can enjoy the late afternoon and evening with a glass of wine and a book on one of the two terraces on deck.

We spent 2 wonderful, relaxing weeks there and will definitely come again!

What a cute and amazing place to stay! Even though it was winter, the atmosphere was great. Surrounded by water, farms, bicycles; basically everything Dutch! The accommodation was very comfortable and pretty. We would love to return one day in the summer, and enjoy the weather some more!

It's a lovely place to stay. Very spacious living room with open kitchen and spacious bedrooms. We were there in October and the house was nice and warm in a minute.

Oostknollendam is a cute village with 520 inhabitants (no supermarket). The boat is located on the edge of the village, wonderfully quiet. There is some work traffic passing by, but you are not bothered by that. Furthermore, the boat is close to Amsterdam (20 minutes drive) and other nice tourist attractions. With good weather you can make beautiful bike rides (2 bicycles available).
