Welcome to your stay
The best way to explore the Tanjung Puting National Park is by cruising along the river aboard a klotok houseboat into the forested surrounds. Named after the noise that the boat makes as it travels – ‘klok tok tok tok’ – these wooden river boats were traditionally used to transport goods and passengers up and down the river, but many have now been converted into houseboats for tourists.
By staying in this traditional houseboat you will be able to discover a different side of the Tanjung Puting National Park that are only accessible by river. You will have the chance to observe the great apes in their natural environment, you will also be likely to spot an abundance of endemic species such as proboscis monkeys and kingfishers as well as sun bears, macaques, and giant lizards.

About the area
Tanjung Puting National Park. The best place to see Orangutans in the wild. Borneo aka Kalimantan is one of only two islands in the world you can see these animals. They are not actually monkeys like many people believe, they belong to the ape family, and share a lot of their biology.
