Houseboat summary
The best way to explore the Tanjung Puting National Park is by cruising along the river aboard a klotok houseboat into the forested surrounds. Named after the noise that the boat makes as it travels – ‘klok tok tok tok’ – these wooden river boats were traditionally used to transport goods and passengers up and down the river, but many have now been converted into houseboats for tourists.
By staying in this traditional houseboat you will be able to discover a different side of the Tanjung Puting National Park that are only accessible by river.You will have the chance to observe the great apes in their natural environment, you will also be likely to spot an abundance of endemic species such as proboscis monkeys and kingfishers as well as sun bears, macaques, and giant lizards.

Our Houseboat call klotok is a wooden river boat with a shallow draft. Its 17 m by 3,8 m, Klotok houseboat have a roof, which forms an upper deck for tourists. The boats fitted with inboard engines. It provides overnight accommodations with sleeping, dining, and toilet facilities.

Tanjung Puting is the largest and most diverse protected example of extensive coastal tropical heath and peat swamp forest which used to cover much of southern Borneo. The area was originally declared as a game reserve in 1935 and a National Park in 1982. While the Park has a checkered history of weak protection, nonetheless, it remains substantially wild and natural
