Welcome to your stay

Stay aboard this newly renovated ship and you will experience Rotterdam in the most stylish fashion possible. This houseboat, located in the charming and lively harbor 'Leuvehaven', offers a contemporary interior design with lots of crispy nautical details. Due to her majestic size and a total of six bedrooms, she is perfectly equipped to welcome larger groups. Perfect for friends and families who want to give their trip to this buzzing city a very special touch.

Note:
- Rooms on Water is no party boat. So, among other things, bachelor parties are not allowed.
- For groups of friends, the minimum age is 28 years.

Explore your stay

The houseboat is conveniently located, just around the corner of lots of great places to see and do.
The Maritime Museum and various art museums, the awesome famous Market hall and cubical houses are literally minutes away. Not to mention a wide variety of superb restaurants, bars and boutique shops.
But now let's first take a tour through this wonderful Rotterdam houseboat.

From the deck, with large terrace and great views over our harbor, you descend into the hull of the ship. Once this space was used to hold tons of goods to be shipped all through Europe.
In 2017 I have renovated this whole space and turned it into a spacious and unique accommodation for groups up to a maximum of 12 adults. Thanks to the vast size of my ship, almost 40 meters in length, it was possible to create a large living room with open kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.

The living room

The living room is exceptionally wide; a wonderful place to get together with your beloved ones for breakfast and prepare for a great day in the city. Next to the large dining tables (various layouts possible) there is a lounge corner with wood stove burner. The glass wall between the hallway and the living room lets in lots of daylight, as well as the portholes in the hull. This creates a very light and bright atmosphere, very well appreciated by our guests.

The kitchen

You have access to a well equipped modern kitchen. The kitchen includes an oven, microwave, induction cooker, freezer, fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker and water cooker, so you can stay in for breakfast, lunch or diner. At least, if you decide not to enjoy one of the many restaurants within the immediate proximity of the ship.

The cabins

With the abundance of space aboard I was able to create large bedrooms, or as I choose to call them: superior cabins. Each cabin sleeps 2 persons. The beds can be put both apart and together, this is up to your personal preference. For your convenience there a private bathroom with toilet, sink and shower in each room so you have full privacy.

Be assured that you will enjoy a comfortable room climate because all the bedrooms are equipped with both floor heating and air conditioning. And perhaps the most charming 'climate control' in each cabin is a large porthole that you can open for a fresh breeze. At night you can blind this typical ship window so you are assured to have a great night rest.

The deck terrace

Last but not least I want to take you up to the roof terrace again. This is a real special place to sit back and relax. Have a drink, enjoy the surroundings and say cheers to life!

House rules

I warmly welcome groups, and kindly ask to read our house rules to be sure that this boat is the right place for you. I have renovated this houseboat recently and I'm very proud of the result. To keep the ship in good shape, I have the following rules:

  • Smoking is not allowed inside. But you can smoke on the roof terrace, a large ash tray is available
  • The deposit can be paid in cash on arrival
  • If you want to organize a bachelor outing you have to contact the owner before booking to see if that's alright.
  • It is not a party boat, so thanks for not making loud music, using confetti, etc
  • From 10 PM it needs to be quiet on deck. Sound travels far over the water, so please go inside and close windows if you feel that you may cause noise disturbance to our neighbors
  • Don't take chairs, towels etc from inside onto the roof terrace
  • Gourmet, stone grilling, frying, etc. are not allowed aboard
  • When checking out, please leave the boat clean and without garbage. Otherwise a fee of 150 euro for cleaning and waste removal is applied

How to get there

From Rotterdam Central Station it takes about 15 minutes to get to our boat. After the reservation is confirmed I will share all the details on public transport and parking with you.

About the area

The boat is docked right next to the Wijnhaven, Dutch for Wine Harbor. And the very next harbor is called Bierhaven, indeed: Beer Harbor. And I'm glad to say that these names reflect the atmosphere very well: we know how to enjoy the good things in life. Not only will you find countless great places to eat and drink, but also you can walk to the Markthall. This world famous market hall is an amazing melting pot of food from all over the world.

Furthermore there is an abundance of cultural highlights within minutes walking. When visiting Rotterdam, the city with one of the largest harbors in the world, you should visit the Maritime Museum for sure, literally around the corner. For culture and architect enthusiasts, there is lots to choose from: visit the unique cubical houses, the Boijmans van Beuningen and the Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art, the Rotterdam Museum and/or the Dutch Photo Museum. All within proximity of the houseboat.

Houseboat owner

Moniek

Hello, I am Moniek, the owner of the Wilhelmina.
After my study Tropical Agriculture, together with my husband I converted a large formal freight ship back into a sailing barge. We sailed with guests in the North of Holland, learned them sailing and telling them about the Dutch waters and water works. I loved this work with guests. In the meantime we renovated and rigged traditional ships on the Wilhelmina.
Unfortunately, a few years ago my husband passed away and I stopped with the working place, sold the sailing barge and started to be skipper on the yellow/black watertaxis, which you see on the river passing by very quickly.

2017, I converted the Wilhelmina into this nice b&b and group accommodation. I'm happy that I've created this place on a boat where guests feel at ease. I like to welcome guests, tell them about (old) ships, the harbours and the rest of Rotterdam (if they want to hear, of course).

I like to travel, by boat in Europe, but also to other parts of the world. I am always curious.

Group tour with 12 peopleShow original

We spent two nights with a group of 12 people on the Wilhelmine houseboat. The communication and instruction with Moniek was super friendly and uncomplicated! The entire boat is excellently equipped - whether it's a hair dryer in every bathroom, a toaster in the kitchen or a music system in the living room - we didn't miss anything! The location of the boat is also outstanding, it is so central that everything can be reached in a few minutes on foot. Thank you Moniek, see you soon!

Beautiful houseboat rental in Rotterdam - 5 stars!

What a beautiful place in a very nice location in Rotterdam (near the Witte de With straat, with many bars and restaurants). The living room is luxuriously furnished with a very nice large dining table and nice chairs. The kitchen is very complete. The bedrooms are small (as you would expect on a boat) but functional. Highly recommended!

Perfect accommodation for a wonderful time in RotterdamShow original

Our group of 12 had a wonderful stay on this houseboat in Rotterdam. The boat is tastefully and lovingly furnished and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. The central location is a particular plus; many sights and interesting places are easily accessible on foot. Despite the central location, the rooms were very quiet, allowing us to relax completely. The owner is exceptionally friendly and was always available to help and advise us throughout our stay. You feel welcome from the very beginning. Overall, we had a fantastic time and can highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to experience Rotterdam in a unique atmosphere.

Houseboat with great value for money

This houseboat in Rotterdam offers great value for money at a splendid inner city location. The special feature of sleeping on a ship is an absolute plus.

Perfect location within walking distance of exhibition accommodation, restaurants and public transportation. The rooms on this ships are great and every detail has been thought about: materials, spaces, layout. Despite everything being very compact, it was certainly not tight and especially very practical.  Accommodation has no TV, not in the living room, not in the rooms. That was a deliberate choice and via the excellent wifi there was also TV to watch on my mobile phone. Ship is docked on a beautiful location in the center. You may hear some background noise from trams, cars and people on the street - but that is part of the charm, it is Rotterdam after all.
