Houseboat description
The houseboat is conveniently located, just around the corner of lots of great places to see and do.
The Maritime Museum and various art museums, the awesome famous market halls and cubical houses are literally minutes away. Not to mention a wide variety of superb restaurants, bars and boutique shops.
But now let's first take a tour through this wonderful Rotterdam houseboat.
From the deck, with large terrace and great views over our harbor, you descend into the hull of the ship. Once this space was used to hold tons of goods to be shipped all through Europe.
In 2017 I have renovated this whole space and turned it into a spacious and unique accommodation for groups up to a maximum of 12 adults. Thanks to the vast size of my ship, almost 40 meters in length, it was possible to create a large living room with open kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.
The living room
The living room is exceptionally wide; a wonderful place to get together with your beloved ones for breakfast and prepare for a great day in the city. Next to the large dining tables (various layouts possible) there is a lounge corner with wood stove burner. The glass wall between the hallway and the living room lets in lots of daylight, as well as the portholes in the hull. This creates a very light and bright atmosphere, very well appreciated by our guests.
The kitchen
You have access to a well equipped modern kitchen. The kitchen includes an oven, microwave, induction cooker, freezer, fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker and water cooker, so you can stay in for breakfast, lunch or diner. At least, if you decide not to enjoy one of the many restaurants within the immediate proximity of the ship.
The cabins
With the abundance of space aboard I was able to create large bedrooms, or as I choose to call them: superior cabins. Each cabin sleeps 2 persons. The beds can be put both apart and together, this is up to your personal preference. For your convenience there a private bathroom with toilet, sink and shower in each room so you have full privacy.
Be assured that you will enjoy a comfortable room climate because all the bedrooms are equipped with both floor heating and air conditioning. And perhaps the most charming 'climate control' in each cabin is a large porthole that you can open for a fresh breeze. At night you can blind this typical ship window so you are assured to have a great night rest.
The deck terrace
Last but not least I want to take you up to the roof terrace again. This is a real special place to sit back and relax. Have a drink, enjoy the surroundings and say cheers to life!
House rules
I warmly welcome groups, and kindly ask to read our house rules to be sure that this boat is the right place for you. I have renovated this houseboat recently and I'm very proud of the result. To keep the ship in good shape, I have the following rules:
- Smoking is not allowed inside. But you can smoke on the roof terrace, a large ash tray is available
- The deposit can be paid in cash on arrival
- If you want to organize a bachelor outing you have to contact the owner before booking to see if that's alright.
- It is not a party boat, so thanks for not making loud music, using confetti, etc
- From 10 PM it needs to be quiet on deck. Sound travels far over the water, so please go inside and close windows if you feel that you may cause noise disturbance to our neighbors
- Don't take chairs, towels etc from inside onto the roof terrace
- Gourmet, stone grilling and frying are not allowed aboard
- When checking out, please leave the boat clean and without garbage. Otherwise a fee of 150 euro for cleaning and waste removal is applied

How to get there
From Rotterdam Central Station it takes about 15 minutes to get to our boat. After the reservation is confirmed I will share all the details on public transport and parking with you.
About the area
The boat is docked right next to the Wijnhaven, Dutch for Wine Harbor. And the very next harbor is called Bierhaven, indeed: Beer Harbor. And I'm glad to say that these names reflect the atmosphere very well: we know how to enjoy the good things in life. Not only will you find countless great places to eat and drink, but also you can walk to the Markthall. This world famous market hall is an amazing melting pot of food from all over the world.
Furthermore there is an abundance of cultural highlights within minutes walking. When visiting Rotterdam, the city with one of the largest harbors in the world, you should visit the Maritime Museum for sure, literally around the corner. For culture and architect enthusiasts, there is lots to choose from: visit the unique cubical houses, the Boijmans van Beuningen and the Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art, the Rotterdam Museum and/or the Dutch Photo Museum. All within proximity of the houseboat.
Houseboat owner
Moniek
Hello, I am Moniek, the owner of the Wilhelmina.
After my study Tropical Agriculture, together with my husband I converted a large formal freight ship back into a sailing barge. We sailed with guests in the North of Holland, learned them sailing and telling them about the Dutch waters and water works. I loved this work with guests. In the meantime we renovated and rigged traditional ships on the Wilhelmina.
Unfortunately, a few years ago my husband passed away and I stopped with the working place, sold the sailing barge and started to be skipper on the yellow/black watertaxis, which you see on the river passing by very quickly.
2017, I converted the Wilhelmina into this nice b&b and group accommodation. I'm happy that I've created this place on a boat where guests feel at ease. I like to welcome guests, tell them about (old) ships, the harbours and the rest of Rotterdam (if they want to hear, of course).
I like to travel, by boat in Europe, but also to other parts of the world. I am always curious.
