We welcome you aboard the 'Durandal', an authentic cargo barge totally remodeled and refurbished to become an amazing, comfortable B&B! The barge was originally built in 1961, and was on active duty for almost 40 yeas until it became this incredible holiday spot. Situated in one of the most beautiful, preserved regions of France (the Canal-du-Midi is added to the UNESCO world heritages list), your stay in the Durandal B&B will be relaxing, unusual, and romantic. 

Houseboat description

The Canal-du-Midi is a 250km long canal between Toulouse and the Mediterranean Sea, going through the regions Languedoc-Roussillon and the Midi-Pyrénées. The surroundings are amazing, the weather is nice, and the people friendly. This is the most perfect place to finally unwind and relax!

There are four guest cabins aboard the Durandal, that can be rented individually. Since a cabin is for two persons, it is only possible to make a booking for 2, 4, 6, or 8 persons! All cabins have a view of the canal! It seemed to us unthinkable to stay on board without being able to admire the Canal du Midi from the bed, a separate entrance only serves two separate cabins, which allows for all cabins to give both sides of the boat. Also, all the cabins have a private bathroom, and is provided with linen and towels. All the cabins also have a double bed, and are an equal 15 m2!

Whether on the sun deck, or on the terrace, or in the outdoor jacuzzi (available from April to October) you will discover the joys of river way of life. For a moment of relaxation, or for breakfast, a moment with friends or friends, it takes full advantage of the wonderfull weather of Languedoc-Roussillon, a rare and protected environment. In all cabins, we have worked to make your stay morepleasant. Everything is included, linens of course (sheets, towels), bathrobe for a comfortable output jacuzzi. In the bathroom are provided many home products (soap, gel Shower, shampoo, body lotion, ...). A bottle of mineral water is provided throughout your stay!

    Perfect & Peaceful!

    Setting was beautiful and peaceful and mooring the peniche close to the fabulous L'Ecluse restaurant is a great business model. Dinner was excellent on both nights, but you will need to book in advance. The chef is our host's brother and Alain is a wonderful host who prepares and has breakfast with his guests. He is very sincere, funny,interesting and speaks excellent English. We will return!

    Unique experience

    The owner, Alain makes you feel completely at home in his unique house on the Canal du Midi. His restaurant is on the bank next to the houseboat and you don't have to worry about driving home after a few wines. The view out of the porthole of the ducks gently paddling past.
