Sailing ship description
Built in 1907 this Tjalk will allow you to experience what old school sailing is really like. This ship offers an original sailing experience with its authentic deck layout. With its 20 meters in length, 4,5 meters in width and only 0,8 meters depth, its the perfect ship for sailing on the Frisian Lakes. Because the ship has a lot of sails it can go quite fast however if you prefer a relaxed day at the water, that is also possible.

This ship offers an unique sailing cruise experience however this is an old ship without all the modern luxury some people are used to today. You wont find a TV or WiFi here. Its about sailing and that we do offer. A very cosy and characteristic piece of sailing heritage. Get ready to go back to the basics with us and enjoy what life is really about.
The layout of this sailing ship
On deck there is plenty of space from which you can enjoy the sea on join in on the sailing. Below deck the ship has one large sleeping area where 12 people can sleep. There is a toilet and shower on the ship.

How to get there
Makkum can be found in Friesland, the most northern Province. It’s easiest reached by car or public transport from the city Leeuwarden.
The second harbor where this ship can depart from is Edam. This fishing village can be found just North of Amsterdam and can be reached by both car and public transport.
About the area
Makkum is a small town in Friesland with about 3000 residents. However it’s very popular with tourists. Makkum is well-known for her Makkumer earthwork.
There is plenty to do in Edam, there are old buildings with rich history all over the town. Edam is also famous for its cheeses, something you will notice if you visit the Netherlands.
