Houseboat summary

This winter we warmly welcome you aboard our B&B on a traditional ship docked one of the coolest city harbors in Rotterdam. We offer 7 cabins, two of which have four beds and five have two beds. In total we can host up to 18 guests. The cozy living room with open kitchen is the beating heart where you can get together, prepare a meal, eat and drink.

Stay on a ship in Rotterdam!

Our authentic sailing ship is an old Frisian Tjalk from 1904 and offers a great and very affordable overnight stay in the center of Rotterdam in the winter. From the ship you walk straight into the center of this metropolis. Whether you stay here to sniff up culture, go shopping, or visit a meeting; this unique houseboat offers excellent accommodation on the water. In the summer months we sail with groups on the IJsselmeer and Wadden Sea. In the winter time it is time to take a break and enjoy a few months docked in the buzzing city of Rotterdam. That is when we warmly welcome you and your friends or family aboard to enjoy a unique and very ‘Rotterdam-like’ experience on the water.

The space

We are proud to say that our ship has retained its authentic appearance while below deck the ship is attractively furnished with plenty of space and comfort for the guests. The ship has a total of 7 basic but convenient rooms including two rooms with 4 bunk beds and five rooms with 2 bunk beds.

The whole ship is equipped with comfortable central heating so be assured that you are nice and warm even on the coldest winter nights. 

In the lounge you can relax with a cup of coffee or a drink. The kitchen is equipped with a 6 burner gas stove with oven with which you can prepare the most delicious dishes yourself. Furthermore you will find a 225L fridge, 40L freezer, coffee maker and cooker. On request my wife Monique is there to assist you in the kitchen.

Access for guests

The ship is docked in the Wijnhaven, a tidal port which makes the ship somewhat more difficult to access in certain cases (low/high water). A gangway is present to let you get aboard safely. Please note that this might be not very suitable for elderly people and young kids.

Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomed by host Sipke and/or hostess Monique. They will show you around on the ship and are happy to serve their guests.

After a good night's sleep on the ship, a nice breakfast is available for you in the morning. For this we ask a small fee per person.

How to get there

From central station it takes just 15 minutes to get to the boat. You can also come by car and use the parking garage nearby. I will send you exact details about the directions and parking options after the booking is confirmed. 

About the area

Our city harbor has a very cozy atmosphere. Not only during the day when you can stroll around and enjoy the great architecture but also at night with the many lovely lights shining on all the ships that are docked here. 

Within just a few minutes you can find may places of interest. If you love culture and architecture, we are glad to say that there are several museums nearby. Think of the Maritime Museum, several art museums and the cubical houses. 

Furthermore there are countless restaurants, bars and boutique shops, as well as the world famous Markthallen. This is a daily fresh market, a real melting pot of food cultures from all over the globe.

    The perfect group accommodation in Rotterdam

    We rented this ship along with the ship laying next to it for a business event in Rotterdam. Staying on a houseboat rental in Rotterdam was a truly energizing and unique experience for all members of this group. It is cozy, special and truly unique. Not to mention the location in the middle of such an amazing city. The large living room (although I'm sure you do not call it that on a ship) was great for late night conversations and a good hangover haha. Thanks for having us aboard your wonderful ship!
