The Harmony Houseboat

We had a wonderful time in Utrecht! Gerard, the host of The Harmony Houseboat was very kind and helpful. The boat is a very nice 15 mins bike ride away from Utrecht Central. We rented bycicles near the station for just 7,50/day. Near the boat wild parrots live - we loved them. Also, biking farther to the north are nice bike routes; an acient castle 10 mins away and a windmill 15 mins away. Please note: the windmill on the picture is not nearby the boat. Neather the cows are. But afcourse you can find windmills and cows in the Netherlands everywhere. For us the biggest surprice was that our host was also living on the tiny houseboat. We were actually very disappointed! This houseboat consists of a bigger room, a small room, a kitchenette and a bathroom/toilett. Only the small room is rented out; you will be using the same kitchenette, the same shower and same toilett as the host on board. The boat is basic: needs to be renovated, but othervise everithing is functional and operating well. It is clean.

The host is very friendly and always offered to help us wherever he could. He gave good advance information on the stay and he made a nice autumn picture from our arrival as a memory for us. We got an outstanding breakfast prepared for us already at 5.30 on a Sunday morning. The equipment of the boat is fairly basic, but the friendliness of the host easily makes up for that. Without reservations I recommend Houseboat Harmony to anyone who wants an authentic Dutch experience.

I loved staying in Gerard's houseboat. It is cozy and peaceful. Gerard was very accommodating of my late arrival. I only stayed one night but wish that I could have spent more time here! It is a bit far from the city, but perfect if you are looking for somewhere quiet and beautiful to relax.

Gerard was really friendly and helpful. He also rents bikes, which are definitely the best way to see Utrecht and the surrounding areas. Get bikes! This location is, as others have noted, pretty far from the city center, so don't make the mistake, as we did, of walking from the central train station to this houseboat if you're carrying heavy luggage

he boat is a little far from the city centre but located in an extremely serene and beautiful area. Gerard is nice,welcoming and helpful too. Gives you all the space you need.
