River View Houseboat Apartment
Charming apartment on a traditional ship, right in the city centre
- Cozy and characteristic houseboat apartment
- Amazing location in Amsterdam city centre
- Wheelhouse with panoramic views
- Sleeps four in comfortable double beds
- Excellent host
- lots of bars and restaurants
Be the captain on your next houseboat holiday in Amsterdam. Enjoy the panoramic views from the wheelhouse of this traditional, yet renovated houseboat apartment. Sleeps four and offers a great terrace right in the city centre.
The interior of the boat is cozy and authentic, with wooden painted walls that follow the shape of the ship. This contributes to the nautical feeling aboard. However, the most ship-like experience you will get in the wheelhouse, that offers amazing panoramic views over the Amstel river. This is an inspiring place to sit back, relax and make new plans for a brand new day in town while ships, ducks and swans swim by.
Inside you will find one master bedroom with a large double bed. This room has an authentic roof and a window that contributes to the light and bright atmosphere. The central heating ensures a comfortable temperature all year round.
A second large and super comfortable double bed is located in the hull of the ship. This is without a double not the highest sleeping area around, but it has lots of character for sure and actually a lot of people love sleeping here. You will sleep like the sailors that lived on this ship almost a century ago. A unique and authentic experience!
Next to the bed you will find a cozy dining area with four chairs and three charming cabinets. The open kitchen enables you to prepare a meal for those nights that you want to have a laid back night at home. Don't fancy cooking during your stay? Not the least of a problem! You will find loads of great bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Previous guests really appreciate the unique location and the atmosphere this houseboat has to offer. Since the apartment is located on a houseboat, the space is kind of limited and the stair is quite steep, but this is largely compensated by the amazing views, the charming terrace and the fact that so many points of interest are found within a stone's throw distance.
Number of double beds: 1
Number of single beds: 2
Heating / Cooling
Walking / Hiking
Cycling / Mountain Biking
Look forward to welcome you aboard on my houseboat!

Best and most unique location in Amsterdam
Among the absolute best and most unique locations to stay in Amsterdam, a city I have spent about 40+ nights so far over numerous trips, and this accommodation was favorite. Not only close and convenient to anywhere you want to be, but just sitting on the top of the boat relaxing and watching the endless Amstel river scenes unfold is an experience by itself. This is the second Amsterdam houseboat I have stayed in, and I will say this one is typical for amenities but way on top for the location. Tips for you: know what to expect. It is tight quarters, not like a flat or hotel room, and you have to climb down into the berth just like the families that lived on these boats did. Everything is miniature expect the beds - they were full size and super comfortable slept great! We had myself, my wife, and 13 year old daughter. We were very comfortable. I would say max 4 people to have a good time; couple with 2 kids or maybe 2 couples. The hosts genuinely care about a positive experience, communicate constantly and quickly, no problems at all. No hesitation on 5 stars, great time- again just set your expectations on the size and entry/exit and if you're good with that you will love it!

Siamo stati benissimo!

Beautiful location, great communication
We had such a wonderful stay on Judith's boat. Pre-arrival communication was thorough and made check-in a breeze. The overall space actually seemed larger than the photo's suggested and it was impeccably clean. The location was amazing and its position on the Amstel meant we were spared the shade that would have hit some of the narrower canals so could enjoy the most of the sun. Surprising how quiet the boat was in the mornings too. Would highly recommend!

A positive unique experience
This is the first time I stayed in a houseboat, and it was a unique experience for me, my wife, and my sons, 18 and 11 years old. Of course, it'not huge, but it's well equipped, beds are so comfortable, the bathroom it's big enough, and the atmosphere is really fascinating. The view from the wheelhouse or the terrace it's amazing; you can have a beer on the terrace watching the boats on the Amstel. The host took care about us, communicating constantly and quickly, giving us all the informations; no problems at all. All the public transportations are so close: tram, metro and bus, but I suggest to walk, because the location is fantastic, and the surrounding area as well. The small fridge could be a problem if you plan to stay many days. All the 4 night we stayed there were so hot in Amsterdam, but 2 fans were enough to sleep well, opening the hatches (on the ceiling of bathroom and kitchen) as well. No hesitation: 5 stars, we will be back for sure!

We are a family of 4 (2A & 2C 12 & 15 years old) stayed on this boat for 3 nights, it was a bit tight for 4 ppl, but a fantastic location & in general well kept. There is a few maintenance things ( nothing huge ) that could be done to make the boat a little more comfortable. Our only down side was this is a shared boat, so there are others that rent out the other end o the boat. (they enter from a different entry, not your side) unfortunately they were very noisy & inconsiderate partying until 2/3 am so we didn't sleep well. If I knew this was a shared boat I would of looked for something else. We complained to the owners & they were very accommodating giving us some money back as a good will gesture. Overall this was a lovely experience & we did enjoy ourselves.
RESPONSE OF THE HOSTESS:
Thank you Melissa for your review, aw well as your understanding attitude. In Amsterdam almost all boat are shared because local rules allow only B&B on a boat when we also live on the boat ourselves. We had a birthday party and got carried away. We should have invited you too! We don't party that late on a daily basis.
Please come back next time so we can make it up with you.
Greetings Judith and family.
