This cosy houseboat is in the centre of North-Holland close to Amsterdam and the beach. The surroundings are very peaceful. There are only boats, fish, frogs, ducks and sheep here. Total quietness in nature. Ichoose to build from mainly sustainable materials, so it is really back to basic: Campinggaz, solar energy and very fresh water from the jerrycans, and a camping fridge. To break the silence there is a record player and records of course. A solid camping toilet which I refresh frequently. Kind of a bucket shower. Lots of hiking and biking km. available. Bikes can be rented in the near neighbourhood.
The boat can accommodate four persons. There are four matrasses available. The kitchenette is simple but efficient, with two pits, a sink, and cutleries. Towels and linen are also provided aboard. In the closet you'll find some boardgames, books and a record player. When the weather is fine it is thee best place on earth to be. Enjoy the nothing in your chair on the waterside terrace.
How to get there
Follow A7 or N247(more scenery), then N243 direction Avenhorn and near Avenhorn follow direction Oudendijk.
About the area
It is countryside in the middle of North Holland. All attractive places can be reached by car in an hour. I personally like wandering around in Hoorn or Edam. Both have a harbour and canals and lots of historic buildings and a museum. Compared to Amsterdam it is rather quiet there.
Hello, when i was a kid I already wanted to spend the night on the water in a little boat. I had to grow up to realise this dream. Though the boat is a little bigger than in my kids time I still enjoy being on the water. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

Unique houseboat experience
The houseboat combined with the environment create a unique experience on the water. It provides a great atmosphere, both inside and outside. Every detail has been thought through; inside it is very cozy warm, outside you can sit on the water as well as on the dike side. The communication with Geraldo went quickly and clearly. Highly recommended houseboat for those who want something special.

On my goodness this boathouse is out of this world. The area is breathtaking. The boat itself is very cosy. The host was very friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely place for outdoor living.

Absolute must for who loves unique places to stay
Such a special place to stay for a couple of days. The boat, the area around, the silence..... (not on the moments we caught fish :)) We slept wonderful with open windows covered by mosquito nets on good beds with clean sheets. It is like very luxury camping. An absolute must for people who like to get out the rush and like it a different way.

Great boat, great host, magical experience
Geraldo was an amazing host! He was very helpful and full of knowledge. Geraldo was kind enough to show us around the town. The boat is a magical place and I would recommend it to everyone I know to stay there!

Our holiday on Geraldo's houseboat.
Our host, Geraldo could not have been more friendly, informative and genuine. His directions to the houseboat from the ferry terminal was perfect, Geraldo also gave us valuable local information, what a nice guy.
My wife initially found that getting on the houseboat from the access 'planks' was difficult, she is not Dutch with long legs but learned how pretty quickly. She does suggest taller steps to step onto houseboat and onto floating balcony. The access hatch to inside is rather low with a probable 'headbanger', Geraldo informed us of this but I still managed to wallop my head a few times, slow learner. The steps from the entrance hatch into the houseboat are quite steep and if wet outside can be slippy.
The kitchen area is small and compact, fitted with 2 burner gas camping stove a portable fridge and sink with foot pump water feed from portable supply. It all worked perfectly.
The 'lounge' area between beds and kitchen consisted of two benches with cushions, although adequate they were not very comfortable with no backrest. If it pouring down with rain or dark and you are stuck inside it could be made more comfortable
The sleeping area was huge with the 3 mattress down and very comfortable. Loads of storage space under bed if required.
In all we really enjoyed Geraldo's houseboat and I would recommend anybody who can live without creature comforts and off the grid for a while got for it.
